5 Indian Captains Who Took a Five-wicket Haul in a Test Match Innings


1. Jasprit Bumrah



Jasprit Bumrah took a five-wicket haul in the first innings against Australia in the Perth Test and made it to the list of Indian captains who have taken a five-wicket haul in Tests. Bumrah is leading the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma in this match.


2. Vinoo Mankad



Vinoo Mankad is the first Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul as captain in Tests. He took five wickets in the second innings against Pakistan in 1955. He did this only once as a captain.


3. Anil Kumble



Former Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble has achieved two five-wicket hauls as captain in Tests. Kumble did this feat twice in the same month in 2007. Earlier, he took five wickets in the second innings against Pakistan in Bangalore. After this, he also took five wickets in the first innings of the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne.

4. Kapil Dev



India's most successful all-rounder and legendary captain Kapil Dev has achieved the feat of taking a five-wicket haul as captain four times. Kapil did this for the first time against Pakistan in Bangalore. After this, he took a five-wicket haul twice as captain against West Indies and once against Australia.


5. Bishan Singh Bedi



Former great left-arm spinner Bedi has achieved the feat of taking five wickets in an innings as captain a maximum of eight times. Bedi achieved five-wickets against England, New Zealand, Australia and West Indies. He took four five-wickets in India and four abroad.
